Mrs M Bakinowska
Deputy Head Pastoral, Year 2 Teacher, Designated Mental Health and Safeguarding Lead
I am delighted to be returning to Rupert House School, where I was once a pupil myself, this time as Deputy Head Pastoral. Coming back to a school that played such an important part in my early years is a particularly special opportunity. Having taken a varied career path before following my ambition to become a teacher, I am thrilled to bring my experience, energy and passion for pastoral care back to the Rupert House community. I am looking forward to helping shape a shared culture rooted in strong relationships, inclusivity and wellbeing. I am excited to work collaboratively with colleagues, children and parents to build on the already supportive environment and to ensure that every young person feels valued, safe and able to thrive and shine.
After studying Languages at university, I began my working career as a Marketing Manager at a magazine marketing company in London before moving to the Lake District. There, I bought and ran a country pub while also working as an Estate and Events Manager at a historic family home. One of my favourite annual events was the ‘World’s Original Marmalade Festival’.
Following the birth of my two daughters, I returned to university to follow my dream of becoming a teacher. After moving back to Henley, my first teaching role was at Trinity School, before I joined St Mary’s Prep in 2019, when my son started in Reception.
I am now delighted to be returning to Rupert House School as Deputy Head Pastoral. It feels particularly meaningful to come back to the school where I began my own education, and I am excited about the opportunity to contribute to its future. I look forward to working with colleagues, children and parents to foster a strong sense of belonging and to ensure that every child feels supported, confident and able to fulfil their potential.
