Rosemary Brook (nee Teasdale)

Head of Art from January 1993 until December 2015.

My full name is Rosemary Brook, but I remarried in 2005 and was known as Rosemary Teasdale before that. I was Head of Art from January 1993 until December 2015.

I have so many significant memories of my time at Rupert House, but some of the stand-out ones are:

Working with artists from around the World.

- Desmond Lazaro Ph.D. who taught us the ancient craft of Indian Miniature Painting,

- Ian and Graciela from Mexicolore in London who taught us about the Mexican Art of the Aztecs, Sammi, Tony Ogogo and Kojo Darko from Heritage ceramics who taught us about African ceramics and

- A brilliant Caribbean Carnival costume designer from Trinidad. We had SUCH  FUN! Also learning dancing, drumming etc from each culture.

I also loved starting the school gardening club in 2009 and running it until my retirement in 2015.

My years working at Rupert House were the happiest years of my 38-year teaching career. It gave me the chance to work with wonderful colleagues and pupils. I will never forget it.

I am now a Granny and carry on enjoying many creative pursuits and of course gardening. In 2019 I ran a community Arts project and worked with 250 people in Goring. We created 500 sunflowers out of recycled materials and won gold medals at Regional and National levels of the Britain in Bloom competition.
