Rupert House Sports Tour to Westonbirt

Rupert House pupils enjoyed an unforgettable two-day sports tour to Westonbirt, packed with activity, teamwork, and plenty of fun in the sunshine.

The tour began with a two-hour journey to the beautiful Westonbirt School. On arrival, we discovered a magnificent, vast oak tree which became our base for the day. It provided the perfect setting to enjoy our packed lunches before the activities began. After refuelling, the group quickly got into the spirit of the tour with their first activity: a tennis session led by Westonbirt’s Head of Tennis. Pupils had the opportunity to refine their skills, learn new techniques, and benefit from high-quality coaching in a fantastic setting.

Following tennis, we headed to the leisure centre for a swim session. This gave pupils the chance to relax and unwind while still staying active, with plenty of smiles and splashes all round. The afternoon then continued with a gentle run around the grounds, with pupils enjoying a little exploration along the way.

The highlight of the day came later in the afternoon when Rupert House took on Westonbirt Prep School in a series of cricket fixtures. Throughout the matches, pupils demonstrated excellent teamwork, determination, and sportsmanship. The games were competitive and exciting, with many standout performances, but most importantly, they were played in the true spirit of the game.

After an action-packed afternoon, everyone gathered for a well-earned BBQ set against the magnificent Westonbirt main building. This was a wonderful opportunity for pupils to relax, socialise, and reflect on the day’s activities. The evening then moved to the boarding houses, where excitement remained high as friendships were strengthened and memories of the day were shared.

The following morning began with a lovely breakfast in the palatial main dining hall, preparing everyone for another busy day. Afterwards, we said our thanks and goodbyes before setting off for Cricklade Manor.

At Cricklade Manor, pupils took part in a fantastic athletics meet, where every child competed in all events as part of a team effort. This inclusive approach ensured that everyone was involved, encouraging pupils to challenge themselves, support one another, and celebrate collective achievement. From sprints and relays to field events, there was a wonderful sense of camaraderie and determination throughout. Pupils cheered each other on enthusiastically, showing great resilience and team spirit across all disciplines. It was a brilliant way to round off the tour, highlighting not only the pupils’ sporting ability but also their encouragement and unity as a group.

The children had a fantastic time throughout the trip and thoroughly enjoyed every moment. From developing sporting skills to building friendships and working as a team, the tour was a great success and will be remembered fondly by all who took part.
