Year 3 step back in time to Roman Verulamium

On Wednesday, Year 3 enjoyed an exciting trip back in time with a visit to Verulamium in St Albans, once a thriving Roman city.
The children began their day by stepping into the past, roleplaying life in a Roman market. They used their reasoning skills to explore a range of Roman artefacts, thinking carefully about how each item might have been used.
After visiting the museum, the highlight of the day was a trip to a real archaeological dig. Here, the pupils met Tom and Lexy, who explained how archaeologists carefully excavate and catalogue artefacts. The children were fascinated to see some of the most interesting discoveries up close and learn about the stories they tell.
It was a memorable and hands-on experience that brought their learning to life, sparking curiosity about the Roman world and the work of archaeologists.
