School Council meeting summary

The School Council had their first meeting of the new year this week.
Mrs Newman opened the meeting by inviting the children to share their feedback on the new breaktime football rules. The general consensus was that the system is working well, with everyone having the opportunity to play within their own year groups and no one feeling left out.
It was suggested that Prep and Pre-Prep be allowed to play together on Wednesday lunchtimes.
The school council members also discussed the following topics:
Equipment Requests & Playground Use
- Request for a cricket set.
- Skipping ropes should be used properly.
- Request for a long skipping ropes for group skipping activities.
Fidgets & Toys
- Fidgets should only be allowed for children with SEN needs.
- Even then, children should only have one fidget.
- No other toys should be brought into school unless necessary.
Facilities & Resources
- The possibility of getting microphones for the music room.
- Improvement requested to the Pre-Prep drinking fountain.
Quiet & Social Spaces
- Request for a quiet room for Pre-Prep children during break times (for reading or colouring).
- Suggested as a possible implementation over the next year or two.
- Request for a designated place for Year 6 to hang out at lunchtime.
Events & Activity Requests
- Slip and slide activity for the summer.
- Movie night.
- Home clothes on Red Nose Day.
- More than one daily snack option.
- A “younger siblings day.”
