Rupert House recognised for inspiring global learning!

We’re excited to share some brilliant news — Rupert House School has been awarded the Foundation Level of the British Council’s International School Award!
This award recognises schools that go above and beyond to bring the wider world into the classroom. At Rupert House, helping our pupils become curious, open-minded global citizens is a key part of what we do — so we’re thrilled to see that recognised on an international stage.
From learning about Islam and exploring European geography to studying the vibrant art of Brazilian artist Tarsila do Amaral, international themes are woven through our curriculum. One of the highlights this year was our whole-school celebration of Japanese culture during International Week, where children immersed themselves in everything from sushi-making to competing in our very own Ekiden. And let’s not forget the French residential trip for Year 6, which was both a fantastic adventure and a great way to experience another culture first-hand.
Mr Armitage, our Head, said:
“I’m delighted that the British Council has recognised the work we do to encourage our children to be fascinated by the world around them. Our children are global citizens, and it’s so important that they enjoy learning about other cultures, faiths and perspectives.”
We’re also lucky to have a wonderfully diverse school community, with families from all over the world. Many parents have kindly shared their stories and traditions with us, enriching our learning even further. We’ve even set up live links with schools around the globe, giving our pupils the chance to speak directly with children in other countries — they absolutely love it!
Shannon West from the British Council said:
“Rupert House is clearly committed to developing a whole-school approach to celebrating international work. The dedication from everyone is helping to create globally aware young people with the skills they need for the future.”
This award is a fantastic stepping stone, and we’re looking forward to continuing our international journey. A huge thank you to all the staff, pupils, and families who make this global approach to learning possible.
Here’s to more exciting international adventures ahead! 🌎
