9th October 2026

Children from across all year groups have enjoyed visiting the Henley Literary Festival this week to meet a fantastic variety of authors.

The visits began on Monday with Year 4 hearing from Joseph Patteson, and Year 6 were very excited to see Katie Kirby this morning! We are incredibly fortunate to have such a wonderful literary event right on our doorstep which we hope will inspire our children in their reading and writing.

On Monday, we welcomed Nick Hughes from NOMAD to our assembly. He spoke to the children about the Henley Foodbank, which NOMAD runs, and explained the positive impact our donations have on the families they support. A huge thank you for all your Harvest donations so far and please do involve your children in choosing items if at all possible. Please ensure that any remaining donations are brought into school by the end of the day on Thursday, ready to be delivered to the foodbank by some of the children on Friday morning.

Well done to Freddie H (Y4) and Oscar W (Y1) who were awarded the Kindness Cup and Sports Star of the Week respectively.

Pre-Prep and Year 3 parents evening – 13th October

If you have not done so already, please make sure you book a Parents Evening appointment for your child via My School Portal (except Rupert Bears who need to sign up manually in the classroom). Deadline for booking a slot is 11.59pm on Sunday 11th October.

Meet the Head coffee morning – 15th October

On Thursday we will host our first Head’s coffee morning of the school year. These are informal opportunities for you to meet the Heads of some of the senior schools we feed in an informal context. All parents are welcome to attend these occasions, irrespective of the age of your child, and I would encourage you to come and join us, wherever you are in your child's educational journey. If you would like to meet Matthew Fogg from The Oratory on Thursday 15th October, please let us know via this form: Meet the Head Coffee Mornings 2026 – Fill out form

Harvest Festival – 16th October

Our Harvest Festival will take place on Friday 16th October. Please can we ask that a maximum of two adults per family attend, so that we have enough space for everyone. The service will finish at around 3.30pm and children should be collected from the church if they are going home at this time. Friday clubs and aftercare will be taking place – if your child has a club on a Friday afternoon, please email arlette.halfhead@ruperthouse.co.uk to let her know whether you are picking up from the church or whether you would like them to be walked back to school for their club.

Nits

We would like to remind all parents to check their child’s hair regularly for head lice. Head lice are very common among school-aged children and can spread easily through close head-to-head contact. The best way to spot them is to check the hair carefully using a fine-toothed detection comb, ideally on wet hair with conditioner. If you discover head lice, please treat them promptly.

Best of luck to the Year 4&5 children taking part in the St George's Football tournament tomorrow and I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Best wishes,

Nick Armitage
