Year 6 Enjoy Sports Experience Day

On Thursday, a group of our Year 6 pupils took part in a fantastic Sports Experience Day at Downe House School, joining children from six other Prep schools for a fun-filled day of activity and teamwork.

The day began with an icebreaker—each child was asked to find a new friend and come up with a unique hand or foot shake, which they had to repeat every time they saw their partner throughout the day. This set the tone for a friendly and collaborative atmosphere.

Next came a whole-group Athletics development session, focusing on key skills such as balance, agility, coordination, and strength. The children then took part in a Lacrosse workshop led by a New Zealand international player, followed by a dynamic Netball session and match delivered by Downe House’s Head of Netball.

Lunch was a VE Day-inspired treat of ‘bangers and mash’, followed by an ice lolly and a piece of chocolate—a well-earned reward after a busy morning of sport.

The pupils had a wonderful time, demonstrating excellent manners, teamwork, and enthusiasm throughout the day. To round off the event, one child from each school was recognised as a ‘Star Performer’—congratulations to our very own Sophia C on receiving this honour!
