Year 2 Transition Week

As part of Transition Week, the children in Year 2 received a special visit from none other than Bob the Minon—currently in Year 2 himself!

Bob shared that he was feeling both excited and a little nervous about moving up to Year 3 in September, helping the children realise that it's perfectly normal to have mixed emotions about change.

To support their transition, Bob encouraged the children to create their own "travel bags"—not real ones, but imaginative ones filled with things that could help them feel more confident as they prepare for Year 3. The children were invited to include comforting items, drawings of people who support them, and objects representing something, someone, or somewhere special.

Through this thoughtful activity, the children explored the importance of acknowledging and expressing their feelings. They learned that everyone’s "bag" looked different—just as we are all different with our own unique needs—and that it’s important to respect and support each other during times of change.

As part of the transition experience, children in Years 2 and 3 also teamed up for a fantastic morning of fun and friendship. From blindfold challenges and rope untangling to limbo and collaborative art, the activities helped Year 2 children bond with their Year 3 buddies as they look ahead to joining the Prep School in September. It was a wonderful way to build confidence, connection, and a sense of belonging.

It was a reflective, reassuring week, helping the children feel more prepared—and excited—for the journey ahead.
