Smart moves: Year 5 explore Gymnastics using AI
In their PE lessons over the next few weeks the children in Year 5 will be creating Gymnastics routines using AI. They had their first lesson this week.
During this lesson, Year 5 pupils used an age-appropriate AI tool to help design a short gymnastics floor routine. After revisiting key actions such as balances, rolls, jumps and transitions, pupils worked in small groups to input ideas into the AI, which suggests a structured sequence and smooth links between movements. Pupils then adapted the routine to suit their own abilities, practised it safely on the floor, and refined it through peer and teacher feedback.
These lessons will promote creativity, digital literacy and problem-solving, while reinforcing control, balance and performance quality in gymnastics.
