Preparing for Change in the Happy Hub

This week in the Happy Hub, a small group of Year 5 pupils took part in a thoughtful discussion about their feelings as they prepare to move up to Year 6.

They shared their excitement about being at the top of the school and taking on new responsibilities, such as Year 6 jobs. At the same time, some expressed understandable worries — from increased homework to the upcoming secondary school entry assessments.

Together, they explored how change can bring a mix of emotions — and that this is completely normal.

To help navigate these feelings, the children designed their own transition travel bags, filling them with people, objects, and activities they turn to for comfort and support during times of change.

They recognised that each bag is unique, just like we are — and how important it is to respect and support each other’s individual needs.
