Building resilience in Year 2

In the Pre-Prep Happy Hub this week, Bob the Minion shared with a small group of Year 2 children that he was feeling disappointed - he had failed his maths test and hadn’t played well in his football match.
Luckily, Tigger came bouncing into the session with some encouragement. He suggested that Bob learn from his mistakes in maths and keep practising his football skills so he could do better next time.
The children could relate to Bob’s experience and shared their own stories of times when things didn’t go quite as planned. Together, they talked about the importance of “being more like Tigger” - not giving up, trying again, practising, and learning from mistakes.
The session ended with the children drawing pictures of things they can’t do yet, but are working on by building their skills and confidence.
Both Bob and Tigger were very impressed by the children’s growing can-do attitude and their wonderful growth mindsets!
