This Week in the Pre-Prep Happy Hub

This week, Bob the Minion joined a group of children in the Happy Hub to talk about feelings.
Bob shared that he had felt happy, sad, and angry - all in the same day! Madame Sheriff explained that it’s perfectly normal to experience lots of different emotions, sometimes even all at once. The children agreed, sharing that they too often feel a mix of emotions throughout the day.
To explore this further, Mrs Sheriff invited the children to create their own emotion colour palettes. Each child chose colours that represented different feelings and reflected on how those colours made them feel.
The children quickly noticed that everyone’s palette was different - highlighting that we all experience and express emotions in our own unique ways. This led to a lovely conversation about the importance of respecting each other’s differences.
Next, the children used their colour palettes to draw the feelings they had experienced that day. Each colour in their drawings represented a different emotion, helping them visualise and understand their own emotional journeys.
Bob the Minion felt much better knowing that it's okay to feel lots of different things, and that everyone has their own way of expressing emotions.
To end the session, the children talked about healthy coping strategies they can use when emotions feel big—like speaking to a trusted adult, drawing, painting, or simply taking a moment to breathe.
A thoughtful and creative session all about understanding ourselves and supporting one another.
