Maths in the workplace
Year 6 children took part in a fascinating panel discussion on Maths in the Workplace.
They heard from three Rupert House parents who apply mathematical skills in their professional lives: Helen Cuthbert, a Tax Partner at an accountancy firm; Venisha Patel, a Clinical Specialist at Boston Scientific; and Claire Wouters, Head of Legal and Human Services at Oxbow Partners.
Each speaker shared insights into how maths plays a vital role in their work, as well as their personal journeys through school, university, and into their careers. The children asked an impressive range of questions—covering everything from tax, VAT, and subject choices for GCSEs and A Levels, to the role of maths in cancer research and in managing recruitment and retention within large organisations.
A huge thank you to Helen, Venisha, and Claire for generously sharing their time, experiences, and expertise.
