Happy Hub

This week in the Happy Hub, a small group of Year 6 pupils were invited to share their feelings about moving on to secondary school.
Through discussion, the children came to understand that it's completely normal to experience a mix of emotions during times of change. To help them reflect on their transition, they took part in a creative activity that represented their journey from primary to secondary school as a river adventure.
Each child imagined themselves as a boat and illustrated a river to represent their time at Rupert House. They filled their drawings with memories such as the trip to France, enjoying a wide range of activities, and spending time with great friends.
Beyond the river, they drew the sea to symbolise the move to secondary school, including their hopes, thoughts, and concerns. These included things like being in a much larger school, longer car or bus journeys, meeting new friends, boarding, and trying new experiences.
The session gave the children a chance to share both their worries and excitements. They also discovered how drawing can be a helpful way to express feelings and make sense of change.
