Exploring strengths in the Happy Hub

This week in the Happy Hub, a small group of Year 5 children took part in a creative activity exploring their strengths through the image of a plant or flower.

As the session developed, the children quickly realised that, just like plants, everyone is unique and we all have different strengths and qualities.

The children reflected on the wide range of skills and abilities they have, both in and out of school. Understanding that plants need water to grow, they then drew a watering can or jug filled with the support they need to develop and thrive. This included family members, teachers and friends, as well as activities that help them when they find something challenging or cannot do it yet.

The children shared thoughtful reflections on how change can feel unsettling and how recognising both their strengths and areas for growth can be empowering.

Know yourself, grow yourself, Year 5! Mrs Sheriff was impressed not only by the children’s many skills, but also by their resilience and strong growth mindset.
