STEM and Coding Workshops
Return to Mars invites young engineers back to the Red Planet for the next chapter in this hands‑on STEM adventure – a mission designed to welcome newcomers while offering deeper challenges for those who completed Mission to Mars. This follow‑on workshop blends advanced robotics, creative problem‑solving and story‑driven engineering to create a day that’s both exciting and meaningful.
Young engineers will design and build a more capable LEGO robot ready to take on a fresh Martian scenario. Using sensors, colour recognition, and multi‑step coding logic, their robot must identify key resources, transport them across the terrain and interact with an automated base station that responds in real time. It’s a mission that rewards curiosity, experimentation and clever thinking.
Alongside the technical learning, Return to Mars strengthens the transferable skills that matter in school, work, and life. Participants practise teamwork, communication, resilience and decision‑making as they test ideas, debug their code and collaborate like real engineering teams.
During the mission, young engineers will:
- Build and program more advanced LEGO robots
- Use sensors and colour recognition to trigger multi‑step actions
- Interact with an automated “Mars Base” robot that responds to their deliveries
- Strengthen coding logic, debugging strategies, and creative problem‑solving
- Develop transferable life skills including teamwork, communication, resilience and confident decision‑making
This is a full day of discovery that builds on the excitement of the original workshop while remaining fully accessible to newcomers. Return to Mars keeps the cinematic spirit alive while giving every young engineer the chance to level up their coding, engineering and life skills in a fun, supportive environment.
Adventure Camp
After toasting marshmallows over an open fire and sharing stories of their day, children will enjoy settling into their sleeping bag for a night under canvas, after a day filled with adventure and discovery.
At Adventure Camp, children step into a fully immersive outdoor experience at the brand-new Canvas Camp, set within the stunning 210-acre Westonbirt Estate in the heart of the Cotswold countryside.
Each day is carefully designed to build skills progressively across four key areas: Bushcraft, Environment, Physical Activity and Wellbeing. From learning essential outdoor skills to tackling team challenges, children grow in confidence while developing a genuine connection with nature.
Led by experienced and qualified outdoor education professionals, every element of the programme is thoughtfully delivered to ensure children feel safe, supported and inspired throughout their adventure.
By the end of their Adventure Camp experience, Discoverers leave with:
- increased confidence and independence
- stronger teamwork and communication skills
- practical outdoor knowledge and problem-solving abilities
- a deeper appreciation for the natural world
Above all, they will have a host of unforgettable memories and new friendships. And with high staff-to-child ratios and a strong focus on safety and wellbeing, parents can feel confident that their child is being cared for by a group of friendly, skilled professionals
