24th March 2023

This has been an action-packed term that seems to have passed in a blink of an eye!

This week has been full of sport and Easter-related activities. It was wonderful to see so many Year 2 pupils from across Henley enjoying the rugby masterclass on Tuesday and the football festival on Thursday was a great success. Thank you to the Sports Department for organising these events and to the parents for coming along to support the children as they played in their matches. I also supported the U9 girls team at the Oxfordshire Schools Cross Country Final yesterday. They ran in a race of over 100 pupils and despite the strong winds and boggy ground, they did incredibly well, taking first place both individually and as a team! You can read about this week’s sport and other activities below.

Easter eggs

Many thanks to the Friends of Rupert House for championing the Easter egg collection for NOMAD foodbank again this year, and to all the families for their generosity. This morning, the pupils in the School and Food Council groups walked 130 Easter eggs over to the D2 Centre where the foodbank is based. We handed them to Jaco Bruwer who works for NOMAD and he was incredibly grateful. He said that they would drop eggs at 60 homes over the next couple of weeks, and the rest would go into food parcels in the run-up to Easter. It was also exciting to see the Easter bunny making an appearance in school yesterday. The children thoroughly enjoyed hunting for the clues and especially enjoyed the reward at the end! Again, many thanks to the Friends for organising this event.

Leavers hoodies

It was a pleasure to be able to hand the leavers' hoodies to the Year 6 children this week. They have done so well in their senior school entry assessments and should be incredibly proud of their achievements.

ABRSM music exams

Also, well done to everyone who performed in the ABRSM music concert on Monday and then went on to take their exams later this week. I look forward to hearing the results shortly.

Secondhand uniform

On Sunday, my family and I are flying to Nairobi for the Easter holidays where we shall be visiting my son Zach who is currently out there volunteering at a local school. We shall be taking two further suitcases of uniform donations with us to the Songa Mbele na Masomo Children's Centre where I will take some more photos, so that you can see the difference your donations are making to the children. Please do continue to donate uniform when we return for the Summer Term.

Easter clubs

Please note that in addition to Star Hotshots, we have two additional Easter camps taking place this year - tennis and netball. Please see the information below for more details.

I hope you enjoyed the Easter service this afternoon and have a wonderful Easter break.

Best wishes,

Nick Armitage
