21st November 2025

Firstly, thank you very much to the Friends (especially Mrs Ward, Mr & Mrs Chamberlain and Mrs Doedens) for organising the wonderful FoRH Christmas Bingo at The Bottle & Glass last night. It was a super evening, with delicious food and very entertaining Bingo, courtesy of the Chamberlains!

On Monday, Tom Scott, the Chairman and Chief Coach at Henley Tennis Club, spoke to the children in assembly about his journey with Dyslexia, which he referred to as is 'superpower'. His message was very powerful, and he was truly inspiring in the way he has overcome the challenges he has faced and not least as a result of the unpleasant ways in which he was often treated as a child with dyslexia.

The Reception and 2W children had a great time at their Rugby festival on Tuesday, learning and embedding a number of the basic skills through fun game-based activities. The session for the other Year 2 class is happening next week.

Many thanks to all those who came along to the parent meetings this week to share your thoughts and to explore options for the way in which independent education will continue be delivered in Henley. Your strength of feeling for maintaining the ethos and culture at Rupert House was apparent and we very much appreciated you voicing your perspectives on the different options. We engaged with the staff in meetings of their own and their voice is clearly very important as well. We will be in contact again in due course and following similar meetings which are to be held at St Mary's next week.

Children in Need

Again, a huge thank you to everyone who sponsored the children and helped raise a fantastic current ‘running’ total online of £3,006. Please do remember to share the JustGiving link with friends and family if you haven't yet done so!

Meet the Head Coffee Morning

Thank you to those who came to meet Luke Walters, the new Head of Leighton Park, on Wednesday. Parents of children in any year group are welcome to attend such meetings. On 28th November we will be welcoming Sarah Rollings, the new head of St Helen & St Katharine. Please click the following link if you would like to attend: https://forms.office.com/e/rjyLdRRqzP

Community Choir and Orchestra

A reminder to please get in touch with Mrs Light (anne.light@ruperthouse.co.uk) if you would be keen to join the Rupert House Community Choir or Orchestra for the upcoming Christmas Carol Concert. There is more information here and no prior singing experience is needed - the more, the merrier!

Henley Christmas Festival

The annual Henley Christmas Festival will take place on the evening of 28 November, marking the official start of the town’s festive season. Congratulations to Charlotte V in Year 5, who has won this year’s Mayor’s Christmas Card competition with her creative watercolour of a Victorian street scene. Although Charlotte is unable to attend the event to help switch on the lights, festival-goers will see Jerry Hall press the button at 7pm. I hope to see lots of you there!

Best wishes,

Nick Armitage
