What a glorious week of sunshine it has been! We’ve made the most of every moment, with plenty of outdoor activity across the school.
Nursery, Reception and Prep children all enjoyed outdoor learning sessions, and our Prep pupils took part in inter-house Netball and Rugby matches, the results of which will be announced next week!
Our Monday assembly was Easter-focused and was led by Reverand Sam Brewster from Holy Trinity church in Henley. He talked about the sacrifice Jesus made for us and used the analogy of taking the red card for someone else's offence, which was very powerful.
On Tuesday, we hosted the annual Year 2 Education Henley Football Festival, welcoming children from Peppard, Crazies Hill, Kidmore End, Whitchurch, Danesfield, Badgemore and St Mary’s for a fantastic afternoon of sport. The children demonstrated great skill, teamwork and sportsmanship, and it was clear how much they enjoyed the event. Many thanks to Mr Vigano for organising such a successful afternoon, to all the staff who were involved and to all the parents who came along to support.
That evening, we held our much-anticipated House Music Competition at the Town Hall. This year’s theme, ‘Royalty’, inspired a wonderful array of solo and group performances. Thank you to Mrs Light for her hard work in bringing the evening together, and to everyone who attended. Well done to all who auditioned and performed, and congratulations to Sahara, who were crowned overall winners by the judges. It was a joyous evening and I was so proud of all the children (and staff!) for being prepared to play their part for their house.
It has also been a busy week for trips. Year 4 visited the Living Rainforest, Year 3 travelled to Verulamium Museum, and half of Year 5 took part in a Batik workshop at Leighton Park School - you can read more about these below.
Red Nose Day
Today, we marked Red Nose Day by wearing red accessories in support of Comic Relief. Mrs Newman led a fun and engaging assembly, with participation from both pupils and staff. At the time of writing, we have reached 98% of our £250 target - so close! Thank you to everyone who has donated so far. If you haven’t yet had a chance, we would love your support to help us reach 100%. The link to donate is here: Rupert House School is fundraising for Comic Relief

Safety outside school
We have recently noticed a number of children climbing the trees on the triangular area of lawn in front of the school, and staff have had to intervene on several occasions. While we fully support children enjoying outdoor play in appropriate settings, we ask that you please ensure your children do not climb these particular trees. There is a significant risk of injury, as a fall could result in landing on the hard path or, more seriously, the nearby road. In addition, this behaviour has caused concern for our neighbours opposite the school, and we have received a number of complaints. Thank you for your support in helping us keep all children safe and maintain positive relationships with our local community.
We look forward to a lovely final week of term!
Best wishes,
Nick Armitage
