16th May 2025

It has been a busy and exciting week of sport and school trips!

Year 4 had a fantastic time at the Earth Trust, where they explored an Iron Age hill fort and learned all about life in Anglo-Saxon times through hands-on historical activities. Year 2 enjoyed a magical day at The Story Museum in Oxford, where the power of storytelling was brought vividly to life—an inspiring and unforgettable experience for all.

Year 6 started the week by completing their Bikeability training with flying colours, before taking part in successful cricket fixtures both at home and away on Wednesday. Yesterday, they had the incredible opportunity to be coached on the grass courts at The Oratory School by none other than Claire Fahey, the Real Tennis Women’s World Champion! To top it all off, they received their results for the English Speaking Board exams, with every pupil achieving either a Merit or Distinction. Huge congratulations to them all!

Perform Drama Workshops

Children from Early Years and Years 1 & 2 enjoyed a jungle adventure with Explorer Luna from Perform on Monday this week. With songs, dancing and acting, they helped defeat a crocodile, speak ‘banana’ to the monkeys, and release a snow leopard into the wild!

If you would like to find out more about Perform drama workshops, please see the flyers which have come home in your child’s bag this week or ask Mrs Light for more details. Free taster sessions and holiday activities are available.

Looking Ahead to Next Week

It is hard to believe that half term is just around the corner! Next week is shaping up to be another exciting one across the school.

On Monday, Year 3 will be heading off on their residential trip to PGL, while Year 6 depart for their Sports Tour to Westonbirt in Gloucestershire. Year 5 will be visiting Leighton Park, where they will have the chance to try their hand at Batik and Food Technology. Year 1 will enjoy their much-anticipated trip to Cotswold Wildlife Park on Wednesday. And finally, we round off the week with our May Fair on Friday afternoon here at school.

Parking Reminder

We have received a couple of complaints this week from nearby residents about unsafe parking and driving during drop-off and pick-up. A gentle reminder:

  • Please park either at Waitrose or the Rugby Club and walk your child to and from school.
  • Waitrose offers free parking for up to an hour, and those with an RH parent sticker may use the Rugby Club for 10 minutes without charge. Stickers are available from the school office.
  • Our Drop & Dash system runs from 8:15–8:30am each morning—a member of staff will greet your child and help them safely out of the car.
  • Please do not park outside the front of school, in residents’ bays, on unmarked sections of Kings Road, or near Northfield End Stores.

Please can we all play our part in keeping drop-off and pick-up times safe and considerate for everyone.

Walk to School Week

Next week is 'Walk to School Week' and so we would love to see pictures of you doing exactly that with your children if at all possible! Please send them in to the Office.

The Great School Run – Also This Sunday

Also taking place at Stonor Park on Sunday is The Great School Run of Henley! If you haven’t registered online yet, no problem—just come along and sign up on the day from 9:30am. It promises to be a wonderful event (especially if the sun shines!) and we’re thrilled to have Jess Gibbon, the British Women’s Cross Country Champion, and The Mayor of Henley joining us as special guests. More details, including race timings and kit lists, can be found here.

Wishing you all a restful weekend ahead and looking forward to another exciting week!

Best wishes,

Nick Armitage
