16th June 2023

The school has been a hive of activity this week. It has been wonderful to see so many parents in and around school for our Show and Tell sessions, the ABRSM concert and, of course, to join in with the excitement of Sports Day today.

Mix-up morning

Years 2 and 3 thoroughly enjoyed their Mix-up morning on Tuesday when the children took part in a carousel of activities including art, team-building on the lawn, a scavenger hunt and a quiz. Buddied up with a child in Year 3, the Year 2 pupils had the opportunity to explore the Prep School and to and got to know the staff a little bit more in preparation for their transition to Year 3 in September.

Make £5 Grow

Year 6 gave a wonderful presentation to their parents on their ‘Make £5 Grow’ project which they completed last week. They made a fantastic profit which they plan to donate to charity, as well as allowing themselves a little treat! I am very proud of the children’s hard work, creativity and entrepreneurial skills which certainly paid off. Thank you to everyone who sent their children in with pound coins to purchase the items created by the pupils themselves.

Next week

Once again, next week is a busy one. Among other things, we have an Inter-House chess tournament, the SEN coffee morning and Junior Choir will be singing at St Mary’s church on Tuesday morning, a Year 2 cricket festival, cricket matches and ongoing Oliver rehearsals for the Prep children, while Reception will be visiting Wellington Country Park on Friday.

Sports Day

Thank you to Ms Nicholson, Miss Findlay and the whole staff team for another fantastic Sports Day today. Well done to all the children for taking part in their events in the right spirit and it was super to hear them cheering on their fellow House members. Thank you also to all the parents who so bravely took part in the parent races and I do hope no-one was injured in the process! Well done to Everest for winning the overall House Cup this year. I hope everyone enjoyed the morning.

Best of luck to all those children taking their LAMDA exams this afternoon and I look forward to seeing many of you at the Ball tomorrow night!

Have a lovely weekend.

With best wishes,

Nick Armitage
