Head

I can remember leaving my senior school and thinking ‘Who on earth would want to be a teacher, given the way we have treated them?’ Less than a year later, having worked at a Boys’ Prep School in South Africa as part of a GAP year pre-University, I had changed my mind dramatically, having had the most wonderful time. Following a degree in Art History at UEA and 5 years working in the Advertising industry in London, it took my wife’s questioning to nudge me to make the jump into teaching, from which I have never looked back.

Deputy Head Pastoral

  • Mrs Susie Newman

    Deputy Head Pastoral

I was born and brought up in London, of which I am enormously proud, and I have fond memories as a very young teenager of travelling ‘into town’ on my own and beachcombing the banks of the Thames. I attended a wonderful old grammar school where I developed my love of sport, foreign languages and music. After school I spent an incredibly happy three years in the beautiful city of Durham where I studied Russian.

Deputy Head Academic

  • Mrs Alice Fletcher

    Deputy Head Academic

Rupert House has always been on my radar. Growing up in Oxfordshire, I had good friends at the school and in my teen years I walked past the big blue door many times whilst working at the regatta, the festival and at Phyllis Court. However, it was not until a few years later that I finally stepped behind that blue door.

Bursar

  • Mr Kim Rawlingson

    Bursar

Hailing from High Wycombe, and having spent the last 30 odd years living in and around South Oxfordshire with my wife, I have never strayed too far from where I grew up. Working in a school was never part of the plan. Having trained as a Quantity Surveyor, I soon realised I didn’t enjoy the building industry. After working for two years as a Product Controller for Hallmark, I embarked on my journey into finance, spending five years as a Sales Ledger Clerk for Presto Print and moving through other finance-related jobs for various firms until eventually becoming Finance Director for a data and telecommunications company. It wasn’t until I was in my 50s that a meeting with my daughter’s school bursar prompted the idea that that’s the kind of job I could do as a bit of a change of pace from the corporate world.

Head of Music and Performing Arts

  • Mrs Jennie Breen

Head of Music and Performing Arts

I have been the Head of Music and Performing Arts at Rupert House School since September 2017. I studied Music at Sheffield University and completed my PGCE (Secondary Music) at the Royal Northern College of Music/Manchester Metropolitan University. I play the flute (DipABRSM) and the piano (Grade 8) and love to sing. I am so passionate about Music and Performing Arts and their place in education and I am very lucky to teach at Rupert House where The Arts are an integral part of daily life.
