1st December 2023

Christmas has well and truly arrived at Rupert House this week!

The dress rehearsals of the EYFS 'The Twinkly Nativity' and the KS1 performance of ‘The Mouse in Santa's House’ went very well and the children cannot wait to perform for you next week. The tree, which was kindly donated by Toad Hall, also arrived today and the Year 6 children thoroughly enjoyed decorating it. The school hallway now looks very festive!

Prep football Fridays

The Prep children will be playing football at break times on the grass on Fridays. Please can you make sure your child brings in a second ‘clean’ pair of trainers if they would like to join in.

Centenary hoodies

The children really enjoyed trying on their new centenary hoodies this week! We also had some requests for adult sizes, so if you would like to place an order and receive it by Christmas, please do so by end of day on 4th December using this link. The current deadline for ordering all Centenary merchandise is 11th December. We will be taking further orders in the new year.

Learning Enhancement coffee morning

On Tuesday 5th December at 8.30am, we are holding a coffee morning with the new Learning Enhancement staff who are joining us in January - Mrs Candy and Mrs Chamberlayne. This is a good opportunity to meet with them and ask any questions you might have. Please complete this short form if you would like to attend.

Flash mob

John Johnny’s break dancers are performing a special flash mob dance at Tesco in Henley on Wednesday 6th December at 5.30pm. Everyone is welcome to come and watch. The event is taking place in aid of Sue Ryder. All those taking part should be at Tesco by 4.50pm. Please read the full letter below. It promises to be a fun event!

Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes

Thank you to all the children and parents who so kindly gave shoeboxes filled with gifts to be sent around the world as part of the Operation Christmas Child appeal. I delivered 23 boxes to the depot, which were gratefully received by the team there.

HTC Santa Run

The annual Henley Santa Run takes place on Sunday 10th December outside Leander Club at 10am. Rupert House is sponsoring the event so it would be wonderful to see lots of families there. It costs £15 per family of 4, or £5 per person. This includes a free Santa hat and prizes for best dressed, plus hot chocolate and mince pies will be served at the finish. All proceeds go to Parkinsons UK. You can find more information here: Santa on the Run 2023

Good luck to everyone taking part in the last of the Chiltern Edge cross-country races taking place at Maiden Erlegh School tomorrow morning (details below with the first race starting at 10am). The cross country is open to everyone in years 1-6 so please do come along and join in, particularly as we are currently leading the overall standings as well as in several of the team events! I hope to be there to cheer you on.

Best wishes,

Nick Armitage
