Pangbourne Poetry Day

On Tuesday 27th February, four Year 5 children were whisked off to Pangbourne College to take part in a poetry competition.

The children were welcomed by some very helpful sixth formers at the college before taking part in some fun warm-up activities. After this, they were given a selection of poems to choose from to perform later in the day. The chosen poem was “Instructions for Growing Poetry” by Tony Mitton.

The children had great fun practising their poem, and even managed to learn it off by heart – something that was not a requirement! They incorporated actions and expressions into their poem, and used their voices in a variety of interesting ways.

The performance in the afternoon was fantastic, and they did themselves and Rupert House proud.
