Happy Hub

In the Prep Happy Hub this week a group of Year 5 children discussed stress management strategies with Mrs Sheriff.
The children admitted that they found exams stressful. Also, homework and other stressful factors like young siblings not sleeping at night can really increase their stress levels. Mrs Sheriff compared our ability to deal with stress to a bucket. The children filled a bucket with stressors stuck on a piece of Lego and soon realised that the bucket overflowed. The children were then encouraged to think about healthy strategies to help them cope with stress or “to empty their bucket”. They suggested some great strategies such as reading, getting a good night's sleep, stroking a pet, taking a big deep breath and listening to music. They also realised the importance of finding strategies that work for them.
