6th May 2022

Summer is upon us and has been lovely to watch the children outside enjoying the glorious weather. The cricket season is well and truly under way and a number of the children have already had sessions over at the cricket club with the first matches due to be played next week.

Yesterday, I was asked to help with the Bell-boating Club. It was such fun to accompany the children along the Regatta Course on my paddleboard, with them having a wonderful time and a great deal of splashing taking place! The children enjoyed racing each other along part of it and I wonder if perhaps some may do so in a rowing boat when they are older. I also enjoyed joining the Year 6 rowers for their first session on the river on Friday afternoon. With both activities, over half the children in the Prep are on the water each week, which is wonderful.

It was super to see a number of the Year 3 parents for coffee out on the lawn yesterday and I look forward to the Year 2 version next Thursday after drop-off. On Friday afternoon the Year 2 children lead the way with the first of our series of 'Show and Tell' afternoons for parents to see their children's work.

Reception Fire Station Visit

Reception had two trips to the fire station today, with the first having to be cut short due to a call-out which caused great excitement! A slightly damp but very animated year group and accompanying staff returned this afternoon, having had great fun with the fire hose.

Residential Trips

I look forward to hearing all about the adventures the Year 4 children had on their PGL residential at Osmington Bay over the last three days and it looks like they had a super time from all the pictures I have seen. It is the turn of the Year 5 & 6 children to go off on their trips next week and we hope they have a wonderful time away.

Open Lunch for Parents  - Tuesday 17th May

Any parents who like to sample our school lunches will be very welcome to do so on Tuesday 17th May at 12.40pm. Please email the office if you would like to join us.

Open Morning - Wednesday 18th May

We are conscious that a number of our parents may not have looked around the school for a while, or indeed at all, in the case of some of our parents whose children joined the school during the past 18 months. The Open Morning is designed for current and prospective parents so please do join us if you would like and book your place with Mrs Halfhead.

The Great School Run of Henley - Saturday 18th June

It was wonderful to have so many children and some parents join us for Running Club this morning. We are very excited to be organizing a fun cross-country race at Stonor Park on Saturday 18th June at 9am, with categories for children from the ages of 3-16 as well as parent races. Invites are about to be sent out to other local schools. Please do save the date and more details will follow in the coming weeks. Best of luck to all those parents and children who are taking part in the Nettlebed Stinger this weekend!

Picnic Concert - change of date to Wednesday 6th July

We do hope that you and your children will be keen to join us for our first picnic concert which will take place on the lawn on Wednesday 6th July, 4-6pm. As the name suggests, please do plan to bring your picnic rug and a suitable spread, and we look forward to showcasing the school's musical talent in a relaxed and sociable atmosphere.

I hope you have an enjoyable weekend.

With best wishes,

Nick Armitage, Head
