17th June 2022

Summer is upon us at last and it has been super to see the children enjoying being outside in the glorious weather.

Sports Day

Well done to the children today for performing so impressively in such heat. It was a wonderful occasion and many thanks to all the parents for their support!

Plastic Free Day

The Year 6 cohort planned a Waste & Plastic Free Day last Tuesday, with the children coming in wearing blue or green items to represent our rivers, oceans and natural environment, all of which we need to protect by cutting down on the amount of waste that we generate and our use of plastic in particular.

The Great School Run

We hope to see you and your family at the Great School Run which Stonor Park are very kindly hosting tomorrow morning. There are due to be approximately 250 people taking part from schools in Henley and the surrounding area. Best of luck to you all!

National Schools' Sports Week

Next Tuesday to Thursday, as part of National Schools' Sports Week, the children are going to start the day with 10-15 minutes of activities to prepare them for the day ahead, both mentally and physically.

The activities the children will be introduced to consist of sessions on each of the following:

1. Calming Spirit - Mindfulness and meditation

2. Body works – Yoga & Pilates

3. Energising Exercise – The 10-minute workout

We hope that the children will enjoy the sessions and that they will help them better understand that a healthy body leads to a healthy mind.

The last week of term

In my post Half Term letter, I detailed a number of the events happening in a very busy last week of term. One of these is The Picnic Concert, which is scheduled for 4-6pm on Wednesday 6th July. We hope that you and your family will be keen to join us for will be a lovely informal afternoon. Please do bring your picnic rug, a picnic and drinks if you would like, and we look forward to being entertained by the children in a relaxed atmosphere. The children will join you when they are not performing. We are conscious that some of you may be going on to the Festival that evening and so are planning for the concert to finish at about 5.30pm, with parents and children welcome to stay a little longer if they wish. Please see below for more information. On Monday we shall send out a quick link for you to indicate whether you are planning to attend, so that we are aware of numbers provisionally. We hope that it will be a lovely way for to bring the whole school community together at the end of term and that it will get you into a Festival frame of mind!

On the last day of term, we are planning to live stream the internal prize giving in the morning for children from Nursery to Year 5 and we will circulate the details of this so that you can watch it should you wish. The Year 6 children and their parents will have a separate Prize Giving in a marquee on the lawn, which is more appropriate for their age. This is a repeat of last year's format, which the Year 6 children and their parents very much enjoyed.

I hope that you have an enjoyable weekend and best of luck to those running on Saturday!

With best wishes,

Nick Armitage
