The Great School Run 2024

Thank you so much to everyone who joined us at The Great School Run on Sunday 19th April. For those who couldn't make it, we hope to see you next time!

A huge round of applause to all our competitors and spectators. We are truly grateful for your attendance and hope you enjoyed the event as much as we did. There was a fantastic turn-out this year, with around 350 children and their grown-ups from more than 50 local schools and nurseries participating.

Well done to Rupert House for winning The Mayor's Cup for Participation! 40% of the school took part, which is fantastic.

We also extend our heartfelt thanks for your generous donations to our charity collection for 'Be Free Young Carers', both on the day and via our fundraising page. So far we have raised £330 and the link to donate remains open for anyone who would like to contribute but has not yet done so: justgiving.com/page/greatschoolrun2024

Thank you to The Stonor Family, who kindly hosted us once again. Following the event, Ailsa Stonor commented ‘We were delighted to host The Great School Run, supported by Education Henley, and to help raise money for Be Free Young Carers. Huge thanks to Birte Hayes, Kevin Nutt MBE, the many volunteers who gave their time, the schools who spread the word and the children and adults who both ran and supported.’

'It was fantastic to see so many competitors from so many schools take part in the run this year and we are enormously grateful to their parents for being willing for their children to take part, and in many cases, also take part themselves! Education Henley - the partnership between the educational settings in and immediately around Henley - exists to help provide additional opportunities for the children in our care and play our part in the local community. We are enormously appreciative of the time and energy given by the organisers to make the event a reality, and so fun for everyone.' Nick Armitage, on behalf of Education Henley.

We’ve had lots of lovely messages from parents and children who took part in the races on Sunday. One family said ‘The Great School Run has become one of our favourite annual events as it is an event that all the family can enjoy together. Our children love not only cheering on their classmates, but also numerous other children they know and recognise from across Henley and Marlow. It’s rare to see so many friends in one place at one time! Thank you to everyone who is involved in the event for making it happen. We look forward to next year.’

From everyone at Education Henley – a huge thank you to all our incredible army of volunteers who made this event possible.

Photos from the event can be found on the Great School Run website. You can save a copy of the images by either right-clicking on the photo when on a desktop or laptop, or by holding your finger down on the image thumbnail on a smartphone to save it to your camera roll.

If you have any feedback, please let us know. We would love for the Great School Run to be back for its fourth year!
