Since leaving Rupert House, Tom has gone on to row for Team GB at Junior and U23 level, is World Champion, and winning at Henley Royal Regatta. Alongside this, Tom studied at Yale University, majoring in Astrophysics.

I was born in late 1930and first attended Rupert House in 1935 aged 4, when it was called 'St Joans'. I left 8 years later to go to St Helen's, Abingdon (I was, to my surprise, head girl of each).

"I congratulate you on your many years of teaching youngsters. I was a pupil in the early days of the war and I recall the teacher was Miss Hallet. Food was rationed and I was in charge of butter pats for lunch time."

I taught at Rupert House from the early 1960s to the 1990s. Initially, I taught Form 1 (when I was Miss Soundy). At that time the head was Miss Fawcett, who lived on the premises.
