Physical Education and Games

Our Physical Education and Games curriculum aims to ensure that children enjoy physical activity and understand the importance of a healthy lifestyle.

All children from Reception up to Year 6 have at least one term of swimming lessons.

Children in Nursery and Reception have one Physical Education lesson a week, taught by specialist staff. In addition, the Reception children go swimming each week, year round.

In Years 1 and 2, the children have one session of Physical Education and three sessions of Games each week. Movement and dance are part of this programme. We teach football, netball, hockey, cricket and rounders and athletics in the Summer term.

Prep School pupils enjoy specialist teaching in both P.E. and Games, which are timetabled to take place at least four times a week.

Rupert House has its own gym, games field, netball/tennis courts, running track and pavilion within a short walking distance of the school.  In addition we have access to a floodlit all weather pitch which is primarily used for hockey.

All children in the Prep School represent the School in Netball, Hockey and Rounders/Cricket matches and have the opportunity to sign up for Cross-Country races. We also have athletic fixtures and football tournaments during the Spring and Summer terms.
