Alumni

Although only in the process of being established, our Alumni Community is on its way to gathering a large and enthusiastic membership.

The aim is to keep former pupils, parents, grandparents, staff and governors connected with the school and with each other.

We are proud of the achievements of our pupils and we are always keen to hear from our former pupils about where they are now and what they have been doing since leaving Rupert House.

To join our Alumni & Friends Community please complete this short form.

Or, to update your current contact details, please email alumni@ruperthouse.oxon.sch.uk or call 01491 574263.

If you would like to organise your own reunion here at school, we would be delighted to help.

I went to Rupert House from about 1955 to 1959. I remember the school fondly as I had only received an interrupted education to that date in Nicosia Cyprus where my father was Commissioner.

Mrs Barnicot was an English teacher at the time and she used to take us for a walk and we would end up eating scones at her house nearby. I learned ballet at Rupert House and we would put on annual performances. I once took the starring role as the “Ugly Duckling”. (A little embarrassing).

I understood that the school was originally for the children of actors and actresses, particularly as my parents' friends had recommended it. When I was there there were 60 pupils and in my last year I was head student. We had a sit down lunch every day, and we were not allowed to leave the table until we had eaten everything.

I thrived at the school, learning the piano and winning a ballet scholarship for secondary school, which was never used because we came to Australia where I now live in Melbourne.

I wish you great success in your centenary celebrations.
