Year 1 visit Windsor Castle

Year 1 thoroughly enjoyed visiting Windsor Castle. They got to walk around the State Apartment and saw Queen Charlotte's Doll House, the Throne Room and The Kings Bedroom..

They were lucky enough to see the Change of Guard which was amazing. Before lunch, they even went into St George's Chapel and saw where the Queen was laid to rest. A real moment of history for 5 and 6 year olds!

In the afternoon, the children enjoyed learning how to be knights and the stages you must complete to become one. Some of the children got to try on chain mail and armour and even carry a sword! Did you know boys left home at 8 years old to become a page before being promoted to squire and then a knight? Knights must be obedient and chivalrous. They also learnt a new word: chivalry.
