All the fun of the fire station!

The Reception children took a fascinating trip to Henley Fire Station on 10th May.

The firefighters talked to the children about smoke alarms and fire safety and allowed them to try on their coats and helmets.

The children were given a tour of the fire engine and learned all about the equipment it holds. Did you know that the yellow hoses in a fire engine are 60m long? They can attach the two together to make an extra long hose! There are 3 ladders on a fire engine and the water tank holds 1800 litres of water - this water only lasts 3-4 minutes when using the giant red hose, so the children were taught about the importance of fire hydrants too.

Everyone got to have a go at using the hoses. It was so much fun and we all got very wet!
