20th January 2023

This has been a busy week, packed full of a variety of activities and events. It’s hard to believe it’s Friday already!

Chinese New Year

Today we celebrated Chinese New Year across the school. This morning we were treated to a colourful assembly held by Mrs Newman, Mrs Fletcher and a Chinese dragon (brought to life by some of the Year 6 pupils!). It was lovely to see the pupils all sat watching, brightening the room with their sea of red accessories. You can find out more about the day’s activities here.

Happy hub

Mrs Harris and Madame Sheriff held their first ‘happy hub’ session for a group of Prep boys in Years 4 to 6 this morning. They took part in a fantastic team building activity involving spaghetti and marshmallows. They worked brilliantly together and was very tempting to step in and have a go myself! You can find out more about how they got on here and more about the ‘happy hub’ in general the Prep section below.

Development forums

We held our Development Forums this week on Wednesday and Thursday, and they were a great success. About 50 current and former parents, past pupils, staff and governors attended over four sessions, during which we talked about the school’s current position, our vision for the future and discussed plans for development. Not only were these sessions very useful from the school’s perspective, but the feedback from those who attended was extremely positive and the former parents enjoyed reconnecting with the school. It was fascinating to hear from the attendees what they felt was so special about Rupert House, what we should be focusing on in the future and how we could go about doing so. I would like to thank everyone who took the time to come along and we look forward to feeding back to everyone in the near future.

Next week

Looking forward to next week, the Nursery and Reception children have a pyjama day on Monday and on Tuesday it is the highly anticipated trip to the O2 Arena for Years 4 to 6 as they go to perform in the Young Voices choir. I am very much looking forward to going to sing with the children!

On Thursday, we have Rebecca Dougall from St Helen and St Katharine (girls) visiting for the next in our series of ‘Meet the Head’ coffee mornings at 8.30am in The Studio. If you would like to join us, please sign up here.

On Friday at 8.45am, Julia Kidd is coming into school to talk about Speech and Language Development. This will be particularly relevant to parents of children up to and including Year 1. There will be a limited number of seats so please do register your attendance here.

Upcoming events

We have Thomas Garnier from Pangbourne College (co-ed) coming in for the 'Meet the Head' coffee morning on Thursday 2nd February at 8.30am. If you would like to attend, please sign up here.

I hope all the children going to the movie night tonight at 5.30pm have a great time. Thank you to the Friends for organising it and to the staff members who are going along to help.

Have a wonderful weekend.
