3rd December 2021

The School has been positively buzzing with excitement this week, as we all gear up for the various Christmas activities which will be happening between now and the end of term.

Today, very excitingly, our Year 6 children decorated the Christmas tree in the front hall, kindly donated by Mr and Mrs Stubbs and really getting us into the Christmas spirit.

The Pre-Prep children have been busy rehearsing for their Nativity and for Peter Pan and I am greatly looking forward to seeing these on Wednesday and Thursday, along with those parents who have booked tickets to the performances.

On Tuesday afternoon, we invited all Pre-Prep parents to come and experience one of our regular Year 2 rugby coaching sessions, which was held at Henley Rugby Club.  Mr Tooley and Mr McArthur, our two experienced rugby coaches held an enjoyable, fun and engaging session for all the children and we were delighted to welcome so many parents.  Mr Tooley and Mr McArthur will be running a rugby club next term (more information below) for our Year 1 and Year 2 children in addition to their regular curriculum sessions and we hope many of you will sign up for that.

We were pleased to see such a large number of our Pre-Prep parents at our Prep School Open Event on Tuesday evening and have received some very positive feedback since.  Our apologies again that, due to the evolving Covid situation, we were not able to host this in School and huge thanks to all our staff, and particularly to Mr Williams, without whom a virtual event would not have been possible.  We are preparing a recording of the event to share with our entire School Community and this should be available to view before the end of term.  We are also planning to host future in-school events next term and hope many of you will be able to join us for these.

Tomorrow is the Chiltern Edge Cross Country event and I, for one, am hugely looking forward to it.  We have such a keen and talented number of children who take great joy in this endurance sport and it will be a great pleasure to watch.  We are also hoping that a large number of our School Community will participate in the Santa on the Run on 12th December which will be fundraising for a number of worthwhile charities including Regatta for the Disabled and the Royal British Legion.  For more information, click here.

I hope you all have a happy and restful weekend ahead of the inevitable excitement of next week.

Best wishes,

Nick Armitage, Head
