Assemblies

Assemblies form an important part of our provision for the pastoral care of the children. Each week a class prepares a presentation for the whole school, usually linking ongoing work with moral or social issues that are relevant to the school body as a whole. Many of the themes explored arise from the codes of conduct devised by every class at the start of the academic year. The children gain confidence in speaking, acting, dancing or singing before an audience. The children learn to listen to one another and respect each other’s efforts and achievements.

Other assemblies during the week are conducted by the head mistress, deputy head, and head of Lower School and staff. Topical issues are addressed and children are regularly invited to display their talents be it through dance, song or playing a musical instrument.

This coming together is an important part of our school life. It gives us the opportunity to experience some awe and wonder in our daily lives.
