Religious Studies at Rupert House seeks to develop knowledge, understanding and awareness of Christianity, in accordance with the Christian ethos of the school. Children are also taught other major world religions and the school is supportive to those of all religious faiths.
Throughout the school, Religious Education is taught in specific lesson time each week . The lessons aim to promote spiritual, moral, cultural and mental development, with ample opportunity to explore and reflect on religious experiences. Children are taught to respect the opinions of others and to show tolerance towards one another. Children are taught through a variety of methods which include story-telling, role play, discussion and questioning.
By the time children leave Rupert House they will be aware of the similarities and differences between the major world religions . They will know that people, objects, places, food and celebrations have special importantance in all world faiths. The aim is to give children an awareness of different cultures in order to enable them to grow up with non-stereotypical images of other faiths. |
